Why Must We Drink Water?

Why must we drink water when we are actually drinking water all of the time in many forms such as tea, coffee, soft drinks and also within the food that we eat to some degree. So why must we drink water on its own when we are receiving water from so many sources already?

Our Drinking Water

Water as you know is able to carry a mass amount of dilutants and polutants along with it very easily. When it does so the characteristic of water changes completely and can have a vast range of effects on our bodies like poison, intoxication and other adverse effect. Water can of course carry along with it many nutrients such as foods, vitamins, minerals and trace elements that are necessary or more so vital to the healthy function of our bodies.

My five year old asked me recently "Why must we drink water? Can't I just have a drink of juice?" I answered him best I could be telling him that he can have a drink of juice and that if he also has a drink of water from time to time it really helps to keep the inside of your body clean and healthy. Liam seemed fine with that and actually was happier to just have a drink of water to quench his thirst. Kids really do seem to have a natural ability for knowing what is best for them when allowed to make their own choices and when given information that can assist them to make those choices. Please don't underestimate the native intelligence of your child.

Fruit juices, protein shakes and other health drinks definitely are very good for you, but there is no substitute for drinking a good quality mineralised water in order to receive the hydration that your body needs. Pure distilled water though in fact is not what your body is crying for. Distilled water will in fact nutrients out of you system and end up giving you a slightly acidic water solution in exchange.

So why must we drink water and what is the difference between distilled water, purified water, mineralised water and other such names for this stuff that we can just drink out of the tap. Well! water from the tap can be a real mystery shout. So don't take the chance for yourself or for you family and loved ones.

A good source of water should be free from contaminents like heavy metals and toxic substances. One of the most toxic substance that tap water carries with it is chlorine. Chlorine by is self will kill all life forms that it comes into contact with. So why would drinking a dilution of this be any exception? It isn't. At the very least take the time to allow the chlorine used by your local water board to evaporate off of the top of the water before you start drinking it. If you let it stand for just an hour, this will make all the difference in the world.

Best to use a good quality water filter like reverse osmosis to take every single little particle of impurity out of the water. But if we use a good quality water filter, won't it also take out the good stuff? Absolutely. We now end up with the other extreme. Water that is too pure and does not provide our body with the essential minerals and trace elements that it vitally needs.

Ok! Why must we drink water that has these essential minerals and trace elements in it?

Well, correctly structured water will have the right balance of calcium, magnesium, chromium, sodium, potassium and even minute traces of silver. All of these are in fact what are known as electrolytes. So what are electrolytes? This is defined beautifully in One Look Dictionary as 'A solution that conducts electricity.'

Oh Man! Why must we drink water?

Ok! Ok! I will try to keep this simple. You body needs the internal fluid to be an electrolyte. This is because your body communicates using very small electrical impulses matching your commands to move as you please that you distribute out through the brain and into the nervouse system. The majority of this is on auto pilot, but there are also times when you do tell your body to move.

When your body is mineral deficient, it has trouble sending this electrical communications through the fluid in your body being a poorer electrolyte now that it does not have the minerals needed to assist the conduction of these electrical communications. It is not really any different than the operation of a robot other that being on a highly advanced biological level.

I hope that I have not confused you, but you may now have the idea that a high quality mineral water will assist your body to have the optimum level of electrolite level. That is what we call hydration. When you are correctly hydrated you feel alive, you have energy to burn and you recover rapidy. No matter at what level of activity you are used to operating at, correct hydration is what is needed to get the most out of life.

I drink what I call The ultimate Drinking Water! You can call it what you like. It is easy to make and cost less that $1 to produce yourself. About 30% of the cost of other high sugar, highly acidic so called "sports drinks".

Why must we drink water? I hope that this helps.

Warmly, Mike King
