The Nine Day Course. Day 4 Choosing Your Domain.

We have to be very clever about this, but remember, 99% of domains are not named using this process. For most, it comes after an idea and they just go out and buy the domain name. Then they find that not so many people are looking for that domain. It is just not being asked for.

You are already thousands of step ahead because you already know the “how to” question and you know that hundreds or maybe even thousands of people are asking for answers on this every single day.

So when people ask you “Hey Bob, what do you do?” you can tell them “Oh, I run a web site. www.knock-down-a-house.com”. “Wow! Cool!”. “Yeh! It is a lot of fun. I show people all around the world the various ways to demolish houses. I get 2000 visitors to my site each day and make a great income.” “You know, I just love knocking down houses and now I am able to help people do this all around the world.”

They are like “Wow! That’s so cool.” And it really is. You are doing what you choose. You are writing the words to the story of your life. Every time you check the net, it puts a smile on your face to see that others, from all walks of life, from all across the globe are landing on your web site searching for the knowledge that you have.

OK! So let’s now choose a domain name that best fits the “How to” questions that we found. Just scan through these and you will start to pick up the ones that are the most real to you.

Note that the keyword will actually be the domain name itself. Play with a few until you get a good ring to it.

www.demolish-a-house.com Great. Let’s see if it is there. Or www.demolisionbuildings.com Now that’s a good one. Last time I looked, it was there.

and type your requested domain name into the search bar. Within a flash you will find out if that domain is available for you. If you want to buy it there and then, as it is only $9.96 then go for it. Name cheap is a great name server so just sign up and make your own account.

Make sure that you only get the .com name. I will explain this to you later, but it basically comes down to branding and when people really get to know your name because of your hard work and marketing, they will automatically go to the .com site. If you get the .org site, then you will be giving traffic away to who ever it is that owns the .com.

Got it, great.

Now you can either register it right there through name cheap, or if you want to go with the Site Build It Hosting, then you will get a free domain there anyway. And the very helpful video tutorials in the Site Build It back office take you through all of these steps in even more depth.

This step is no hurry. Believe me, I rushed in and bought all of these different domain names when I got started because I thought that somebody else would get them. All that happened was that when I didn’t register them a year later, they expired.

So let’s just take the first step and get it right the first time. After your first online business is built up and running, then we can go onto building your second and third sites.
