Energy Drink Facts!
Nothing like an energy drink at the end of the day when you start to get the 3pm slow down to pick you up. But
what is in this drink and what is it that gives you the lift of energy? Many of these drinks that have suddenly
become a part of our culture and something that we can legally depend upon for a quick hit, do have a hidden
recipe that needs to be looked at and in fact could be contributing to your tiredness even more so.

When comparing such drinks, we really are not comparing apples for apples or a lemon for a lemon. The market for
these high energy beverages looks to be exceeding 10 Billions dollars by the year 2010 in the USA alone. At the
moment, European brand "Red Bull" hold about 65% of that market. But what is this doing to the health of our
future generations and ourselves as we strive for health and longevity.
The main ingredient in Red Bull and other such "energy drinks" is caffeine. Other leading brands include "V",
"Mother" and the like. But with all of these, the main ingredient that gives us that boost is the caffeine content.
Each can gives you a burst of energy, but in actual fact it is just a simulation of energy and is not
providing your body with any more energy to burn at all. Caffeine is a stimulant and gives us that momentary "high"
and along with that high comes the low or as is becoming more widely known, The Caffeine Hangover.
Our bodies are not designed for this type of stress and along with the highs and the hangovers come the feeling of
depression and other such falsely diagnosed illnesses. How do you think that you are supposed to feel after filling
you system with caffeine, sweateners, artificial colouring, carbonation and a mixture of "Natural Hurbs" like
guarana that are somehow supposed to battle through this cocktail.
The alarming increase of "hyperactivity" in our children and other such behavioural dissorders are so easily
explained when one takes a closer look at the average intake of these energy drinks by our children. Many UK
schools have even banned them. But how can we expect our children to not drink them when we see bus banners so
brightly advertising them and our corner shop refrigerators full of them with a good profit to the owners.
So what should an energy drink contain?
The stable imformation required to judge a high quality sports or energy drink would be as follows:
- The water source that it is made of should be pure.
- It has a great mineral content with calcium, magnesium and all these other essential minerals and trace
elements required by our bodies for correct internal function and energy usage.
- It is not artificial as the body does struggle with synthetic type compounds.
- It should be naturally sweatened with synthetic. Products like nutra-sweat being traced back to neuro problems
like memory loss and other such mental side effects are definitely not hatural.
- It should not be acidic, in fact it should be a little on the alkaline side of the scale. Acid drinks encourage
a disease enviroment. As is seen with the mass obesity and other numbers of escalating 20th and 21st Century
diseases.
- And of course, it should taste great. Your body knows when something is good and good flavour is always a great
indicated.
- And no. caffeine enhanced drinks do not give you energy. Caffeine is a stimulant. It may seem like you have
extra energy, but all that is happening is that you are feeling the effects of a stimulant. And as always, it
will come back down.
Let's just take a look at the acidity scale in itself with some general brand comparisons.

Beer's not looking so bad hey! Well, I wouldn't recommend beer for you energy drink. But this table
above just shows the misconception that the marketing labels and the like can give us with these different containers.
The Ph Level is just one indicator and all should be looked at when assessing a good energy drink. For example.
Bananas when they are raw are acidic. When they rippen, they become alkaline. This could explain that uneasiness
in your stomache when you eat raw bananas, if you have ever done so. The stomache just seems to struggle with
acid. There is already enough down there trying to digest the food that we are sending down.
If you have come here to gather information on energy drinks in general, then the above guidelines should be of
great help. But remmember, a banana smoothy with milk, honey, a raw egg and even a dash of ice cream is probably
a long time favourite and hopefully will still be for many generations to come. Not too practical to take out on
the football field, but sure is great to knock one down when you get home.
The Blast Energy Drink covers all of the requirements of all the above. It is 100% organic and tastes absolutely fantastic. At a fraction of the cost of any of these high caffeine, highly marketed and not too good for our future generation "energy drinks".

Warmly, Mike King
